An Engagement is officially recorded when the overlay unit fully loads.

Earnings depend on performance, so it’s impossible to know how you much you’ll earn before you starting experimenting with the program. How much you earn depends on how much engagement you deliver as well as a number of other factors such as the targeting data you provide us, campaign performance across the network, your audience demographics, and other variables. What’s the eCPM range I should expect?

Since there are so many factors at play we cannot provide any ranges or estimates. Every implementation of the VideoEgg Ad Platform is quite different.

Can I influence the ads that appear on my property?

Yes. Targeting is very important to performance. You have the option of passing us a variety of targeting data that we will use to ensure a relevant and enjoyable ad experience on your property. Technically speaking, you are not required to pass us that data, but if you do your users will see more relevant ads and you will see higher revenue.

Do you target ads? How?

Yes we do. We primarily focus on users’ age, gender, and geographic location to help our advertisers hone in on the right audience for their message. We are also constantly innovating on how we match the right audience to the right brand message.

What is integration like?

Integrating the VideoEgg Ad Platform into your properties is fast and easy.

What will the experience be like for my users?

Our philosophy is “Nice Works” and that extends to every part of our business.

Our ad units are really two units: an invitation and an overlay.  If the user engages the invitation they will then view the overlay on your site.  We do this because it’s the nice thing to do.  Your users are enjoying your site, so there’s no reason to shuffle them off to some other site.  If they desire to learn more about the brand offer you are presenting to them., we provide them a seamless way to do so wtihin your site environment.

Our invitation units open to reveal the overlay when the user clicks or hovers over the unit for a set amount of time, and all of our units include an obvious way to close them.  Nice really does work.

What size ad formats do you offer?

There are different sizes of AdFrames you can use within your site. The following table lists the currently available AdFrame formats. One is specific to the Facebook Canvas page, while the others are standard IAB units.

Which ad units work on Facebook canvas pages?

We have a specific Banner size (616 x 80) for Facebook canvas pages. This unit must be placed at the top of the page in the manner described in our integration kit. All of the other sizes will also work on your canvas pages except the Leaderboard.

Does VideoEgg have a preferred relationship with Facebook?

No. VideoEgg serves Application developers and helps them monetize their canvas pages. We have no special or preferential relationship with Facebook.

How do I integrate the VideoEgg Ad Platform?

Integration is a simple four step process:

  1. You have to apply and be accepted into the program.
  2. Our partner relations team will review your application to ensure your site fits into our network.
  3. Once accepted, read the VideoEgg Ad Platform Integration Guide, and contact us if you're having problems. One of VideoEgg's Solution Architects will be able to assist.
  4. Our team will have to approve your test integration before you go live.


Generally speaking how long does it take to integrate?

Integrating the VideoEgg Ad Platform can be as fast as an afternoon.

Where should I place the ads on my pages?

Placement truly depends on the user experience on your property. Generally speaking you should place the units in highly visible, highly trafficked areas where users will naturally interact with them. Typically this means above the fold, towards the center, and closer to the top of the page. But every property is different and every page is different! You should experiment with a variety of placements to optimize your users’ experience and your earnings. The Banner for Facebook canvas pages, however, must be placed in a specific position. Please refer to the integration guide for more information.

I’ve integrated the VideoEgg Ad Platform but don’t see an ad. Why is that?

Since our advertising is premium and targeted we may not always be able to fill every impression you make available to us. If we are unable to fill the request we pass the inventory back to you. You can specify an alternate behavior if you like, such as a call to Google AdSense.

What is an ‘alternate behavior’? Why should I create one?

When we are unable to match your request with an appropriate, high performing brand ad we give you the ability to call another action. For example, you can make a request to call a house ad of your choosing or even call Google AdSense to fill the space.

Can I place more than one unit on a page?

Not yet. We are working on some features that will allow you to run 2 VideoEgg Network units on one page, but for now you are still limited to one VideoEgg Network unit per page. That said, you can now include ads from other networks on the same page. Please remember, however, that performance matters.

Cluttering your page with ads can have a negative impact on performance, so be smart when placing multiple ads from different networks on the same page.

Can I use other ad networks?

Yes. If you feel that using another network in addition to the VideoEgg Network will optimize your total earnings, we encourage you to use another provider. Be aware, however, that your VideoEgg Network earnings are dependent on engagement and by adding multiple ad networks to one page you run the risk of driving down your engagement. Lower engagement will negatively impact your VideoEgg Network earnings.

What is the user experience using the VideoEgg Ad Platform for Video?

Our VideoEgg Ad Platform for Video Publishers use our innovative Ticker unit in conjunction with a Post-roll unit on their Flash video.

The Ticker is an overlay unit that appears a few seconds after the video begins to play. The user can choose to close the Ticker. If a user clicks on the Ticker they will view an associated video or rich media unit within the chrome of the video player. If the user decides not to engage with the Ticker, a post-roll of the same advertisement will run at the end of the video. The user has the option of closing that post-roll unit.

If a user embeds one of my videos on another site will I still get paid?

Yes. As long as you are able to restrict your content to locations that are safe for advertising and the ad call still functions properly, you will receive credit and payment for those impressions. VideoEgg will not, however, be able to report back to you the location of these "off-site" impressions.

Can I pass you targeting information?

Absolutely. Targeting data such as user age, gender and location is extremely helpful in ensuring that your users see highly relevant ads. The more targeting data the higher engagement is likely to be. Please see our integration guide for the specifics on how to pass this data: [[1]]

What sizes should I use?

The VideoEgg Ad Platform includes a number of different ad units and dimensions. You should experiment with a variety of different units to optimize your engagement rate on your particular pages. Depending on the specific site experience, you may find one particular size or another works best for you and your audience.

Where should I place the VideoEgg Ad Platform ads on my pages?

You have virtually complete freedom to place the VideoEgg Ad Platform ad units on your pages. You should take into account the complete site experience and where you would like to integrate commercial messages.

It's important to note that page placement has a large impact on engagement. Placing the ads in prominent areas where users are apt to notice them and interact with them is crucial to generating revenue.

Typically ads that are placed 'above the fold' and closer to the center of the page will perform better; however, this is only a rule of thumb. You should experiment freely with placement to optimize your engagement. You may also want to consider the overall layout of your pages... small changes could make great differences in your engagement rate and earnings.

How do I track the impact my changes make?

You can track your daily performance in the VideoEgg Portal. Be sure to check frequently when you make changes to your ad placement or dimensions. Any differences are likely to appear in your engagement rate.

How will I get paid?

To ensure proper payment, you must provide us accurate contact and payment information associated with your account. For U.S. taxpayers, this information includes without a valid U.S. tax identification number and a fully-completed Form W-9. For non-U.S. taxpayers, this information includes a fully-completed Form W-8 or other form, which may require a valid U.S. tax identification number, as required by the U.S. tax authorities.

When will I get paid?

Payments are sent by VideoEgg within about 60 days after the end of each calendar month that ads are running on your site. Each time VideoEgg sends you a payment, VideoEgg incurs administrative and other costs so we do not send payments if the amount owed is less than $100. Payments will continue to roll forward until $100 has been accrued.

How do you calculate how much I get paid?

Your earnings depend primarily on how many times your users engage with VideoEgg Network ads on your pages. An engagement is counted when the overlay fully loads. Each time a user engages with an ad you will receive a payment. The amount of this payment depends on a number of factors including the campaign, its performance, whether you pass us targeting data and other items.

What is eCPM and why is it fluctuating?

eCPM is a commonly used term meaning "Effective Cost Per Thousand" ad impressions.

While the VideoEgg Network pays Publishers on a per engagement basis it is still useful and possible to calculate how much revenue you are earning for every thousand impressions that VideoEgg fills with an ad.

Your eCPM value may fluctuate from month to month and even from day to day due to a variety of factors. eCPM is highly dependent on your engagement.
